Unheard, Unsafe, Unequal: Women's Voices in Crisis — Report Launch

On Wednesday, we launched Unheard, Unsafe, Unequal: Women's Voices in Crisis at the House of Lords, joined by Baroness Gillian Merron, Minister for Women's Health and Mental Health, Natalie Fleet MP and Beatrice Devillon-Cohen.

The room brought together a cross-section of voices, from government and Parliament to healthcare professionals and campaigners, all united around a common concern: that women are being let down across health, financial security and personal safety, and that the time for action is now.

Our founder and trustee Baroness Geeta Nargund set the tone: "In England today, a woman born in the wrong postcode can expect nearly 20 fewer years of good health than one born in the right one. That is not fate. It is the consequence of systems that were not built with her in mind."

The discussion that followed was frank and wide-ranging. A clear thread ran through it: that poor health, financial insecurity and safety are not three separate problems. For the women living them, they are one.

As Baroness Nargund put it: "The gap between policy passed in Westminster and change felt in daily life is where progress is won or lost. What we owe now, to every woman who told us what is wrong and has waited too long, is action."
